I had Zhiwei Zhang. Zhang allows us to bring one paper of our own notes to exams. He doesn't curve, but if you have good notes and understand the homework, you shouldn't be struggling that much. The actual content is very easy for the most part. I only seriously looked at the lecture notes the day before exams to make my notes and ended up doing well.

Zhiwei Zhang. Lectures are pretty boring. The professor is pretty monotonous, not everybody can pay attention in those environment. Two midterms, one final. No quizzes in discussion, at least for spring 18. Homework is done on webassign, you can just google the problems if you don't understand. Just another statistics class needed to graduate. I don't understand but just do it it's required. You don't learn too much anyhow.

Not that bad. Took it with Zhang. First midterm was super easy. Second midterm was quite difficult. The final was slightly easier than the second midterm. Homeworks were annoying but doable. My advice is get serious after the first midterm.

Professor Zhiwei Zhang. Hard to understand during lectures but is a really nice guy that will always be eager and thorough when answering your e-mails or when you attend his office hours. This class is extremely easy(like Algebra 2 easy) during the first third of it up to and including the first midterm. The content up to the second midterm and final will be noticeably harder(I'd say probably 3-4x as difficult). The key to doing well in this class is doing well on the homework and spending a lot of time on your formula sheet to ensure you have no blind spots in your understanding. The average on the first midterm was 16/20 and the second was 10/20 so you can kind of see what I mean.

I had Jill Smith. It's not as hard as it seems, it just requires a lot of time and energy outside of class that I did not really have.

Had Prof. Smith, class ramps up in difficultly pretty quickly after the first midterm. Probably not the most challenging math course you will ever have but definitely not a walk in the park. Homework is through WebAssign, and is much harder than the exams in my opinion. If you can do the homework well without too much assistance you will do well in the class. Go to office hours and put in a decent amount of time studying for the class and you'll be fine. It also helps if your TA was as helpful as mine, Tyler.

Didn't go to class after the midterm, but still got an A in the class. You'll be alright.

CS Major's Opinion: Took this class with Jill and let me tell your this class will eat you alive if you're not into Math. First lets talk about the HW. It's Web Assign with three overall submission tries meaning each try counts for the entire assignment. The HW's are insanely long to do and all pretty much word problems so if you hated those well here they are to fuck you one last time before you graduate. The biggest helpful advice I can give you is to recognize what type of question each problem is asking you and to do each HW before the Quizzes. The Quizzes themselves are the HW so if you do them before they are due you'll have a fighting chance. A lot of people didn't pick this up until too late. Every discussion ends with a quizz and yeah you get a quizz and HW literally a day before the final. Jill has no mercy. All in all if you can get 90% and above on the HW's and Quizzes you may just pass this class but it won't be an easy task. THE HW IS HARD. This is a heavy class to balance and if you don't put time and effort into this class you'll definitely repeat it.

The exams and homework were not hard. But the way the class is structured with Shuheng Zhou are what make it frustrating to take. There are no recordings for lectures. No chat during lectures. Which makes it hard to deal with especially for a 3 hour block once a week class.

Probability and Combinatorics are the hardest part of this class. Sometimes differentiating between probability distributions can be tricky but if you keep up, this class will be easy. Make sure to do the HW as this is the most helpful part in ensuring a good grade on tests. Lectures are confusing so reading the book instead is useful. Teacher: Shuheng Zhou

Take it Professor Analisa Flores if you can, she's very organized and fair when it comes to grading and curves. Not a hard class, just hard to keep up with the content as it's a lot.

I had Analisa Flores. Wasn't too bad. Two midterms worth 15% each and a cumulative final worth 30%. Both were curved generously. Study the notes as much as possible and fill them out. Quizzes were worth 15% and are confusing at times, the correct answer choices often didn't make sense. All in all, great professor only thing I wish is that she could've provided us practice exams :(

Took with Analisa Flores Spring 2021. Dr. Flores is extremely organized. It feels like it's not possible to watch a lecture without learning something. She uploads her notes after class but never filled in, you have to watch the lecture to fill it out. Even still you should read the book, do the hw, go to discussion and stuff too because you can only get so far just taking notes in lecture.

Took it with Flores. She provides note outlines which are very useful. Tests/quizzes were open note so pretty easy. She’s nice and accommodating. Class teaches you useless stuff like high school math classes, so just think of it like that.

Material isn't too bad. Chapter 3 will appear kind of foreign at first, but once you get used to the rhythm of it, you should be fine for most of the content. Took with Flores. She's very fair and friendly.

Had Professor Flores for this class. Lectures are pretty clear and the testing is decently fair. The homeworks are pretty difficult and more difficult than any test questions so if you can do those, you're all set. There is calculus in the later materials. There are weekly quizzes that you have 2 attempts on which is nice.

Had Flores I think, lecture was kinda hard to follow, but all lectures were posted online and she made note outlines for you. tests aren't too bad, as long as you know what formulas to use

As long as you show up and get your hw and quizes you be fine. The class is just videos which is fine I didn't watch all just the ones I couldn't logic through. There are a lot of easy points in this class you just have to remeber to get them done.

Took it with Flores and wasnt bad. First half felt easy enough to grasp so long as you went to lecture and discussion. Very detailed and organized teacher with materials as well. Second half of the content was harder though as it started to involve more involved formulas and integrals, so if you want great grade than its best to focus hard on the last half. Nice that she does curve though.

Nice prof, content isn't hard, notation is. Lost most of my points cus I didn't write a letter or something. She provided like a template for notes you'd have to fill out during lecture otherwise you wouldn't know the notation. Finished with an A, you'll do fine.

Took it with Analisa Flores Fall 2023. Lectures were mandatory because she didn't post any notes, but course material and lecture notes were very organized. Only five mandatory discussions, 6 homework assignments, weekly quizzes (2 attempts and easy if you paid attention in lecture), 1 midterm worth 30%, and final worth 30%. Exams were very similar to questions on practice exam. First half of the class was very easy and then it gets a little more challenging when she starts doing integrals, but it's still not too difficult.

Took with Dr. Flores. She is an incredible lecturer and passionate about the stats and her students. She does everything within her power to help her students succeed. First half of the class is pretty easy. The second half involving continuous functions is tougher. Learn the distributions very well for the midterm. Don't worry about being bad at calculus, she allowed us to use integral calculators on the final, and only gave problems involving polynomial functions that simply require using the power rule.
